SodaStream – Is it worth the Buy

Let me start by saying I am not a paid advertiser or promoter for SodaStream. This post is a combination of product facts, consumer opinions, and my personal experience using this product.

Virgin Wines

SodaStream claims to be a healthier alternative to sodas and flavored sparkling waters as well as being eco-friendly. We don’t always realize how much we throw away like cans and plastic bottles; this product claims to reduce the amount of that waste.

The SodaStream can be cost effective but it depends on its usage.

A Healthier Alternative

Let’s throw out a few things about sodas and other sugary drinks that may catch your attention.

  • Made with toxic chemicals – I have used a bottle or can of Coke to clean the rust out of my toilet. That can’t be good to drink.
  • Can lower fertility – I have heard this before, a study done in 2018 published in Epidemiology found drinking 1 or more sugary drinks a day lowers your chance of getting pregnant.
  • Can increase the chances of having a stroke
  • Creates belly fat – 1 sugary drink a day adds 1 lb. of fat a week and has been found to increase belly fat a good 3 inches
  • Creates more waste with plastic bottles and cans

Now, let’s throw out some facts about the syrup and fruit drops by SodaStream:

  • No additives
  • Two-Thirds less sugar than soda’s and other sugary drinks
  • 1 x 1L bottle can help reduce more than 3,700 bottles and cans in landfills
  • Cost effective for a person or family of heavy soda drinkers

If you compare the two, SodaStream is the healthier choice and they have a line of naturally sweetened syrups.

Worth The Buy – YES!

Whether SodaStream is worth buying depends on how often you buy sodas for you or the family. Occasional drinkers of sugary drinks may recoup their costs for this product. Occasional would be me, I may drink a soda a week and it will most likely be ginger ale.

Hardcore drinkers would find SodaStream a lot more cost effective. The math changes according to your demographic simply stating, prices change depending on your location. So let’s break it down this way…

If used correctly one carbonate cartridge makes 60 L of soda water, 1 bottle of syrup or fruit drops makes 12 liters of soda; you will need 5 syrup bottles to make 60 L of soda. Don’t forget you will have to replace the cartridge and the syrup when you run out. The cartridge is on SodaStream.com for $29.95 and the syrup prices at around $4.99 each.

Medix CBD Delicous CBD Gummies

Cartridges tend to last 3-4 weeks for 30 L and 6-8 weeks for 60 L depending on your usage. It should only take 5-7 pumps to create a good fizz for your drinks.

So, I will leave it up to you to decide if SodaStream is worth the buy.

For me, I got one for my son and his friends. It was a lot cheaper than buying 6 or 12 packs, it was even cheaper than buying liters of drinks that would most likely sit and get flat after only a couple of drinks. I was never a fan of sugary drinks or soda so I rarely bought them until my son went into middle school and high school and we had kids over.

Now I am an empty nester and it may take me a week to drink a 20 oz ginger ale making purchasing one again not to cost effective for me. I would need to drink at least 4 sodas a day for this product to be worth it.

Any Difference in Taste?

I have not tried all of their flavors but the ones I did try like Cola, Dr. Pete, and the Lemon Lime was pretty spot on when it came to taste. Now again. I am not a hardcore soda drinker and those that are had told me they could tell a difference but not necessarily in the taste just the “bite” or fizz. The fizz does not stay fizzy for too long.

Gaiam Yoga

Hardcore soda drinkers could also tell the decrease in their sugar intake. The decrease in sugar is a great thing but the flip side of that is, if your body is used to that sugar and you are now giving it two-thirds less, you will more than likely start going through withdrawal.

Finale’

SodaStream is a healthier alternative to sodas and flavored sparkling waters as well as being eco-friendly. This sparkling soda maker can reduce the amount of waste. By using one 1L bottle you can significantly reduce the number of bottles and cans we throw away every day.

SodaStream.com offers replacement cylinders, decorated bottles and bottle bundles plus just about every flavor of syrup and fruit drop you could think to want. The syrup and fruit drops by Sodastream contain no additives, has two-thirds less sugar than sodas and other sugary drinks.

Purchasing a SodaStream can be cost effective for a person or family of heavy soda drinkers. If you drink about 4 sodas a day this sparkling soda maker will be a great alternative and a great buy.

  2. This is quite innovative. Whoever came up with this is a genius, only problem is,will our heavy soda drinkers take this opportunity and double down non the sugar intake and the pollution of our environment? I’m not a drinker myself, maybe 1 or 2 seven up  0.3l in a week, sometimes none for up to a month and I have struck sugary drinks down a great deal for the kids. So,this might not be cost effective for us but I know some people who I can suggest the Sodastream to. It would be worth the buy to them.

    1. When my son was still home and we had his friends over this was a really good purchase for us. I didn’t want to feed other peoples kids sugary drinks especially since I didn’t give my son any of it. Any family with heavy soda drinkers would benefit for the savings. I am hoping that people will become more aware of this planet and what they are doing to themselves. This is a great alternative to soda and teas and kool-aid (do folks still drink that) lol and helps cut down tremendously on waste.

  3. I absolutely love this insightful article because it is full of great information. This is fascinating and interesting to me.After reading Alot about sodastream,I found it a great way to stop the use of soda water. Sodastream will be a way for me to minimize my cylinder cost and it’s less sugar free. this is an insightful and educative article. best regards

    1. Thank you so much! I truly enjoyed my SodaStream when I had it. It’s just me now so no need for one. I may drink a ginger ale a week. It literally takes me a week to drink one 16 oz ginger ale. But if a person drinks more than a drink a week this would be a good purchase for them.

  5. Dear Cole,

Thanks a lot for the thorough and comprehensive review post. I love to drink sodas and its quiet famous in the place where I live because of the hot atmosphere.

I got helpful insights from your post. Nowadays people are getting aware of the harm caused by the sugary drinks and the details you shared is very helpful and I am afraid on reading the list. The best thing is you have provided a healthier alternative which is amazing.

Free shipping and 30-day risk-free trial is just like icing on the cake. Sodastream pricing is also affordable and its on my list.

Sharing from your experience adds more value to this review post. Great to hear that, they are using naturally sweetened syrups.

I loved how easy the review makes it for readers and no additional research needed. You left no stone up-turned in explaining how it all works.

    Much Success,

    Paul

    1. I appreciate your comment. I try to research as much as I can to be able to give a good honest opinion on a product. I had to have tried it myself beforehand as well. It gives the review more accreditation in my opinion. Thanks

  6. I heard SodaStream the first time. It is eye opening. I am addictive to soda and drink at least one liter of soda a day. My wife is not happy about this, but I get addictive to soda. If I don’t drink soda, I feel something is missing. So far I have no any health issues associated with drinking soda, except that my belly fat is apparently increasing. I also worry that one day I may have health problem.

The SodaStream machine can be the solution for me. I can create a healthier alternative to soda by using the machine. I bookmarked your page and will do more research on how to make personalized healthier soda.

Thanks for sharing the wonderful machine. I am sure that my wife will be happy for me.

    1. A soda a day adds 1 pound of belly fat a week, so just imagine if you drink double or triple that. This product will stop the threat of all that along with any other sugar-related health risks. Any person who drinks sodas heavily or regularly I would recommend them to get one. Thank you for reading. If you have any other questions I will be glad to help!

  7. I am a regular drinker of carbonated water and my favorite brand is Coca Cola and Sprite. I like Sprite because it really resembles sparkling water, bubbly and deliciously tasting. I usually do not worry about the chemicals damaging my kidney as I also drink an average of 8 glasses a day of pure water. My problem with these two brands that I am drinking is, it’s turning me into an obese person. I think with this new alternative, SodaStream, I can still only drinking sparkling water and at the same time not worry about gaining more weight.

    1. I would agree that this would definitely be a good alternative to the sugar but still give you the fizz. They have many varieties of flavors, so there are plenty to chose. Thanks!

  8. Firstly I would like to commend you this article, it is one burn out of desires to see others live healthy based on your experience. For me I cut down my intake of sugar many months ago because I begin to see some of it’s dangerous side effects to my health and ever since the. I have not found an alternative drink, not until today. You have just giving me an alternative drink which means I need to get myself a SodaStream machine. Thanks

    1. That’s awesome! I’m glad I was able to give you a good alternative. Sugar isn’t great for you, especially not artificial sugar and the calories… WOW. I hope you get one. Let me know if you ever do and your opinion on it.
